Fred Molfino Jr., Managing Director
Fred brings more than his 17-plus years in capital markets to the team: he brings worldliness, dignity, and a steadfast dedication to his work, family, and community. Fred's practice integrates the two main business units of Three Bridge Wealth Advisors, working closely with fund clients managing various liquidity strategies such as in-kind stock distributions, block sales, and 10b5-1 plans and working with his partners on providing comprehensive wealth planning for the partners' and investors' private equity funds.
One of Three Bridge's founding partners, Fred's professional experience has focused on serving the private equity community and building an extended network of industry professionals, general partners, and fund investors. He began his career in 1992 working in the institutional sales group at Montgomery Securities in San Francisco, servicing the funds and their underlying partners. He then went on to work in the Venture Services Group at Hambrecht & Quist before spending the next five years as a Principal at Robertson Stephen's Venture Group. In 2002, Fred joined Smith Barney to manage The Venture Group and expand its footprint in the VC community. A double major in college, Fred holds his B.A. in Economics and Philosophy from Boston College; Fred is a Certified Private Wealth AdvisorSM professional; Fred attained the CPWA® designation from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business; he is both Series 7 and Series 65 NASD licensed; and is California Life Insurance Licensed.
A third generation San Franciscan, Fred and his family are involved in their community. He is an active alum of both his high school, Saint Ignatius College Prep, and his alma mater, Boston College. His wife, Michelle, is a member of the S.F. Women's Club and the S.F. Zoo Auxiliary. Both Fred and Michelle are actively involved in their neighborhood association and their children's extracurricular activities.
An avid golfer who enjoys the sportsmanship and camaraderie of the sport, Fred is a member of the Olympic Club and has, on occasion, traveled to the storied lands of Scotland and Ireland to play those legendary, picturesque courses. Few things bring him more joy than playing a late afternoon round with friends - the course quiet and dusk settling in. He is also quick to open a bottle of red wine and savor with his friends and guests.
Fred's wife, Michelle, is half-Chinese with family in Hong Kong and mainland China. They believe in raising their two young boys - Teddy and Henry - with open minds and open hearts, learning from other cultures in our increasingly global society.
And let's not forget the Molfinos' 'first' child, their Cavalier King Charles spaniel, Massima.
